"note": "Jabbit analysis. Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid made in the body and found in meat, fish and dairy. In mice, a 2023 study reported 10-12% longer average life; whether blood taurine falls with age is disputed (2025 NIA-led and Oct 2026 Yale-led studies found it rises or stays flat). The Oct 23, 2026 Cell paper is a mouse and cell mechanism study linking taurine to the NLRP3 inflammasome. No human trial has measured lifespan; one 6-month biological-age trial finished in Nov 2025 with no results posted. Human trials are mostly small and short, with modest cardiometabolic signals in meta-analyses, no clear cognitive effect, and negative or mixed results in hip fracture and cirrhosis trials. It is a prescription drug in Japan for heart failure, a liver indication and MELAS. Short-term tolerability looks good; a 2025 Nature mouse and cell study raised a question about taurine and myeloid leukemia that has not been tested in people taking supplements."
